Cortney Jones is a proud Texan, community advocate, and servant leader with a heart for people and a vision for change. At just eight years old, she entered foster care — an experience that shaped her resilience and inspired her lifelong commitment to improving the systems meant to protect and empower families.
Today, Cortney is the Founder and Executive Director of Change 1, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young people transition out of foster care through mentorship, leadership development, and community engagement. For more than a decade, she has built strong partnerships across Texas to ensure youth and families have access to the resources, relationships, and opportunities they need to thrive.
Cortney’s leadership is rooted in empathy, accountability, and action. She has worked alongside policymakers, educators, and community leaders to strengthen programs that support children and families — always centering the voices of those with lived experience. She understands firsthand that real solutions come from listening, collaboration, and a deep commitment to community.
Why Cortney is Running
Cortney Jones is running for Texas Senate District 21 because she believes our communities deserve leadership that puts people first — not politics. She has seen what happens when systems fail families, and she has spent her career fixing what’s broken, not talking around it. Cortney is running to fight for safe communities, strong schools, economic opportunity, and a future where every child and family has a fair chance to succeed.
She brings lived experience, proven leadership, and a track record of results — not rhetoric. Cortney believes government should be accessible, transparent, and accountable to the people it serves. She is running to be a voice for working families, young people, and communities that have been overlooked for too long.
